Praised for her “superior technical facility and musicianship,” Tomoko Nakayama has been acclaimed as both a collaborative pianist and harpsichordist.

Tomoko has appeared most recently with the New York Philharmonic Ensembles, at Merkin Concert Hall, New York, and at the Tanglewood Music Festival. As a vocal piano fellow at Tanglewood, she was the répétiteur for Don Giovanni and harpsichord continuo player for the Mark Morris Dance Group performances of Haydn Horn Concerto.

As winner of the Samuel Sanders Awared, she was a featured artist at the 2008 Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival, and was also resident accompanist for the Buffet Crampon USA Summer Clarinet Academy in 2007. In 2005, Tomoko was guest harpsichordist for the New York String Orchestra Seminar at Carnegie Hall, performing the Bach Double Violin Concerto with Hilary Hahn and Jaime Laredo. Tomoko is a member of the Chamber Orchestra of New York, playing both piano and celesta.

A native of Japan, Tomoko holds a Bachelor of Music degree in harpsichord and a Master of Music degree in Collaborative Piano, both from The Juilliard School, where her teachers were Lionel Party, harpsichordist of the New York Philharmonic, Margo Garrett, Jonathan Feldman, and Gina Levinson.
